The train journey between Bonn and Berlin takes between 5 - 7 hours travel time depending on the type of train you catch.
There are various types of trains.
(a) Express Trains (which stop at limited stops)

(c) Night Trains (which travel through the evening
(d) ICE (Inter-City Express) trains (which essentially are very fast trains - bookings are essential on these trains)
There are bathroom facilities, restaurant and bar service on these trains. The is also a luggage compartment to store luggage.
Etiquette on-board trains - Students MUST read this before leaving Hong Kong

Do NOT leave your bags in the aisle
(2) One seat per passenger
You MUST always carry your ticket with you at all times
Do NOT squeeze 3 (or more) onto 2 seats
Do NOT loose your ticket - losing your ticket will result in you paying for another ticket which could be very expensive.
(3) Be tidy at all times
Put all garbage in the bins provided
When you are finished eating, put all remaining food items back into your bag.
(4) Pack for your journey
When you are traveling long distances in a train, it is essential for you to pack a day bag. You will not be allowed to access your BIG suitcases once we have boarded the train and stowed your suitcases. Day Packs only will be allowed with you in your seat.

- Take your day pack with you AT ALL TIMES
(5) Always travel with a friend
If you wish to walk amongst the train you MUST advise one of the teachers first.
You must always travel with a friend (except when you need to use the bathroom)
Take your ticket and day pack with you - NEVER leave these unattended in your seat.
(6) PROBLEMS and troubleshooting
Here are a few situations and helpful hints for any problems:
What happens if I jump on the wrong train?
Don't panic - stay calm. You must go to the conductors room (usually the first or last room on the carriage) and tell him immediately. You cannot travel on a train without a valid ticket. You will be fined and MUST pay the fine in cash on the spot so it is very important to tell the conductor immediately to avoid the fine. Once you have located the conductor, you MUST call one of the teachers and advice them of the problem and also let us speak to the conductor.
What happens if I miss the train?
Don't panic - stay calm. You must ring the teacher immediately and let them know where you are. The train will depart ON TIME - it waits for no one! If you miss the train, phone a teacher immediately. Do NOT leave the train station. Someone will come back to the station and pick you up. If you miss the train, you will be expected to buy a NEW ticket. This will be very expensive. So, please be on time and do NOT miss the train.
What happens if I lose my ticket?
Don't Panic! - If you lose your ticket, no one else can use it as it has your name and passport number on it. Tell one of the teachers immediately. There will be a way around this situation. The only place you would lose this will be on the train so everyone will have to go searching for you.
